Born and raised in Los Angeles to Garifuna-Belizean parents, Wahsan is a multifaceted artist whose music paints a vivid picture of his cultural heritage, life experiences, and artistic evolution. His sound has a compelling blend of Hip-Hop, R&B, Caribbean rhythms & Soul. His music often tells the story of a man going through the motions with identity, ambition, and purpose in a city that never stops moving. Wahsan’s artistry is not only a product of L.A.’s dynamic music scene but it’s also deeply influenced by his Garifuna roots, which ground him in a rich legacy of resilience, spirituality, and storytelling.

From his early years, Wahsan's passion for Hip Hop ignited as he penned rhymes to the beats of influential producers like 9th Wonder and Kanye West. This strong love for the genre drove him to teach himself the art of beat making. Remarkably at the age of 14, he founded his own label, HeadPhonez Entertainment which is now known as HdPhonz Forevr LLC and embarked on a creative journey that would shape his musical path.

Under the stage name BabyLion, Wahsan released a series of albums and mixtapes between 2009 and 2018. Written, produced, and mixed by himself, these projects showcased his exceptional talent and marked the early milestones of his career. However, in October of 2018 Wahsan decided to embark on a new chapter embracing his given name and leaving behind the moniker BabyLion.

Musically Wahsan draws from a variety of influences. His Garifuna heritage instills in him a rhythmic pulse and storytelling style that is as rhythmic as it is poetic. Combined with the West Coast’s Hip-Hop and R&B’s emotive depth, Wahsan has created a sound that is both unique and familiar. A bridge between cultures that celebrates his roots and appeals to a global audience. His lyrics often are raw and introspective, delve into the complex realities of his life, from the challenges of coming from an Belizean background to navigating the music industry as an independent artist.

Wahsan’s commitment to authenticity shines through in every performance, every lyric, and every beat. He is a storyteller at heart, using his platform not only to share his personal journey but also to represent the often unheard voices of his community. As he continues to grow and reach new heights Wahsan remains grounded by his mission to inspire others through his art, to celebrate his heritage, and to create music that transcends boundaries.

With an ever growing fanbase, Wahsan is more than an artist. He’s a symbol of resilience, ambition, and the power of staying true to oneself. For Wahsan, music isn’t just a career—it’s a calling and as he continues to carve out his place in the industry, there’s no doubt that Wahsan will be remembered as one of the voices that truly matter.
